The transition to renewable energy is one of the key factors to counteract climate change and to take steps towards energy autonomy. We developed an educational project, to teach students at the age of 16-18 how to found their own cooperative with the goal of building a solar energy plant on a roof in their hometown. Thereby they learn how to organize their own power supply democratically. As active board-members they gain responsibilities within the cooperation and take action by planning, financing and installing a solar energy plant. They become sovereign multipliers for energy autonomy and climate protection and get a sophisticated skillset for their professional future.
